Raystown Developmental Services Family Services Division is committed to the enhancement of children's lives through the development of strong healthy families.
Family Preservation and Reunification
The Family Preservation and Reunification Program offers support to families with a child currently placed out of the home, or with a child at risk of out-of-home placement. We provide intensive services in the home, working in cooperation with the family and Children & Youth Services to determine risk factors. We then help the family develop goals that address those risk factors so that children can be returned to, or remain in, their homes.
Family Connections is a supervised visitation program that acknowledges the importance of continued parental and family contact for children in out-of-home placement. This program focuses on the child's needs for nurturing and fun and helps maintain critical family attachments with their children in the safest and most natural environment possible while they are in placement.
Family Group Decision Making (FGDM)
Family Group Decision Making is the voluntary process of bringing families together with the people who support them, to assist the family in making decisions to keep children safe. We provide the following types of conferences:
Family Group Conferences strengthen relationships between families and service providers, allowing the family to play a bigger role in the solution, not just the problem. The focus is on safety, permanence, and well-being for the children.
Family Court Conferences provide an opportunity for the family, attorneys, and service providers to address family needs. The group comes together to review the family's plan and permanency review order. The plan is then examined to ensure it addresses the protection and safety of the child and other issues identified by the court.
Truancy Elimination Conferences are a partnership between the student, their family, the school, and involved community agencies. The group examines the issues related to the student's truancy and develops a plan to address these issues, outlining specific responsibilities of those willing to support the plan.
Family Support Conferences provide the family the opportunity to develop their original Family Service Plan and Child Permanency Plan. The family comes together with their supports and caseworker to develop a plan that addresses the safety concerns that led to the agency's involvement with them.
Supervised Visitation Service
The Supervised Visitation Service exists to accommodate court-ordered visits with a non-custodial parent. This service provides a safe environment and advocacy for the child's needs. The office at Raystown Developmental Services offers a comfortable room for visitation. Visits are monitored by trained staff whose goal is to insure the safety and well-being of the child.
Independent Living is a youth-driven program for foster care teens between 16 and 21 years of age who are beginning to transition into adulthood. We provide a variety of services unique to each individual's goals. Raystown Developmental coordinates services deemed necessary to help foster youth make progress toward their goals and provides support as they work toward independence.
